You don't install things to your RAM; your RAM is cleared every time you reboot your computer. When you do something on the computer, it's being loaded up into this memory so that it can be worked with. Although it seems like you're doing things from the hard drive, you actually don't directly deal with the data on it, but rather you simply load it into the RAM, manipulate it there, and then store it again. Think of your own brain. The RAM is like your conscious mind that constantly retrieves / stores data as memory, and you manipulate your data in your conscious mind before you store it or when you retrieve it later before storing again. Same concept basically.
