There are always need of programmers, yet if you plan learning something just to earn money from it, I'd recommend not doing it. Programming, unlike most subjects, is one of the top self-learned topics. It means that you are the main factor of learning programming, you decide for yourself any time.
People that learn programming because it's "good money" will most likely be disappointed.
