How long does it take to be proficient in one language? I find coding really interesting and engaging but I work full time in a non computer related job. How long would it take before I became a pro?

It depend on what you want to do. Don't learn a language for sake of learning it, instead learn it by doing it meaning that you have to code a lot and try making simple projects and bigger till you achieve what you want to achieve because there is no limit in learning. You can learn for years but if want do a specific thing then aim towards that thing and practice really hard. Python can take several months to be familiar with the basics but after then you either try continuing python till mastering it or move to a different language. Just don't give up, you can only code 1 hour a day if you don't have time and it will still make you learn after doing it every day. Glad I helped
