Curious, what are you guys' opinions on good starting languages for beginners?

I'm just wondering- I thought HTML/HTML5 would be a good start but what from there? JS since some of what is taught here relies on it? or go to another one completely?

I started with HTML, but as you say, the next step is difficult. CSS is definitely a begin and I use that always instead of an internal script tag, but after that, there aren't much possibilities. I then started to learn JavaScript and jQuery. However, JavaScript is much better if you want to learn more languages like C# and C++. JS isn't too difficult compared with C# and C++ and that sort of languages, but it is difficult compared with jQuery. But don't get me wrong: JS and jQuery have different purposes, so don't choose jQuery "because it is easier"! If you are completely new to coding, I suggest Ruby or Python, since those are very easy in the way they are written. After that, try JS and/or any C language. If you are already known with coding, I should skip the Ruby and Python part and start learning JS and/or a C language. Good luck!
