Then go against your family. Make a success out of it. When you make the big bucks and have a successful career then go back to them and tell them, "Okay I'm going to listen to you now mom and dad, what would you like me to be?"

There are many parents who do not know the requirements around computer engineering..Many reasons are hidden in this case. They though doing other job will give us more salary but they don't know being a computer engineer can give us more wealth with fame and respect..But my family always support me respectively . We have to obey our parents as we were knowing from the childhood. But in this case I will say that go against them.. Lesson your own passion..When success will start coming your parents obviously will support you ..Good Luck👍👍

DO NOT let your family (anyone, really) decide your career, period. Your career is YOUR decision! Keep the interest of computer engineering until you're an adult. Your family has little power over what you do when you're an adult. When you become an adult, every decision in life is to you. This is especially true when deciding on a career.

If you really like to dive into CS, your parents will support you, because every parent wish their child to be happy. You should just show them how much you like it

My own people always see me as a crazy nerd who would prefer to go "food-less, bath-less, sleep-less, brush-less and work-less " just to do some crazy stuffs with his phone 😂 😂 😂.

@sah who makes and control these future bots?? won't it still be the computer engineers, bots or no bots man remains the most creative and dynamic creature. @Nishan my friend i have faced a similar situation like yours, i tried listening to my parents and guess what, i lost a year, but now i decided they will listen to me this time and there I'm doing what my heart desires. All I'll advice you is make them know how important this is to you and how it will influence your future. Good luck.

I assume that you are living in Bangladesh. There are almost very few Computer Engineers. So basically your family might not have idea.. Same case for me I lived in rural area in India. My family forced to do job after 12th Std...but I realised them about advantage, working at home not on office, high salary, etc.... Thus they agreed and I am doing Computer Engineering in College of Mumbai. Hope you do the same..😊

Albert Einstein said it best: "If you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will spend its entire life thinking that it is stupid." My 2 cents to you;--don't find yourself swimming in the wrong places, stick with the water and leave the climbing to the monkeys

Gao, both are respectable options in my opinion. I am very curious as to why some think computer engineering is not so.

Do what you want to do, what your heart says!!! This is the matter of your career. if you agreed with your parents and gived up and leaved the world of computers, then what option will remain for you?? An option which burdens the learning of it on you? Or An option whose practicals make you bored? Or An option whose professional life will ruine your life's happiness? Or An option who make you feel inferior because you can't do simple task of it while your lower-hands can do it efficiently? Or An option which make you always feel, "alas, if i was a computer engineer!!!" ? Tell your parents about your passion, go against them, work hard for your passion and at the time when they were thinking that how disobedient our child, come to them and say "Mom, dad i am the i worked hard and now i am the biggest engineer of computer in our country, world!!! Never Give Up bro, your parent or your friends can just say, but 'You' can do. You can do what you want. beat others word with your action, with your will. oh i am so sorry this answer seems such a huge spam but i told what i want to!! Now you should do what you want to. Good luck for up and downs of life and lastly... 'Never Give Up!!!'

well I will say there are many reasons behind it and one of the reasons is that many of us and our elders think that due to the innovations made in IT sector there may be a day will come when there will be no use of computer engineer and everything will be automated i.e, our all works will be done by bots and so that human involvement will be much less then what it is today. And so there will be no need of computer Engineers doing most of the thing manually by their own mind. By automating it we will get sheer perfection also. So this is what is my point of view. Everyone will be having their own point of view.
