What are the currently trending / best posssible programming languages combination with databases for the server side ?

Question

I've been meaning to start a project and confused with all the options that are available. Should I do PHP MySql type. Or look at newer Anjular2 Mongodb style. The application will be simple but will need to handle a lot of traffic. E.g. like a simple chat application. Together with images and audio files. I'm willing to learn anything. The options are overwhelming. Need some guiding hand for me to choose based on my requirement (e.g. light weight chat application). There will be an android app as well.
