You need Copyright or Patent protection to prevent others from creating their own version. Copyright protects the wording. Patent protects the method. Nothing protects the concept.

No, not necessarily. You search for something that is popular. Then you create something similar that is different enough not to give you legal issues. Because buying the rights on something popular is in most cases too expensive.

Tiktok feature doesn't seem to be copyrighted because there are lot of copies in the market. Not only Instagram but yt only has "shorts" feature similiar to reels. It is not possible to copyright everything there are certain conditions. For example: you cannot copyright an idea or features but the implementation. If instagram copied the code of the tiktok, then it may land in trouble. Otherwise tiktok is nothing but short videos and i think automatic swipe. Instagram also copied stories from Snapchat but Instagram implementation was better. Copyright stuff is really tricky when it comes to softwares and features.

* because they have similar ideas * because they copy what makes money * because they like to develop their own version of it (legal issues, customization) What were your thoughts on that?

Lisa This is very interesting, when tiktok surpassed everyone, then Instagram and YouTube also did the same as TikTok, that is, scrolling the video up, is this by law? steal the idea of tiktok

Because of brand competition. e.g. You have very basic idea, that I think I can built upon. My product offers these features and is advertised towards this type of audience.
