Mentioning someone on a PC in your comments

In a browser on a PC how can we mention "Someone", so that the name gets a link to the profile of "Someone"? I've seen this question countless times but it wasn't specific to the PC. Please don't say we use @Someone. On PCs it doesn't seem to work. And please don't say it cannot work unless you have insider knowledge about the coding involved. I use Chrome but if this is browser specific and you know a browser where it does work, please share. Can you test if it partially works? I mean if inserting @Someone in a message on PC expands to the version with link on mobile while remaining "@Someone" on PCs? This would suggest it's probably done on client side on the app before displaying or sending the comment to the server. I doubt it but who knows? If I had the app I would test this myself. Thank you
