If you choose web you have to learn HTML then CSS and JavaScript
But if you want to be a programmer you can learn Java.
In programming, HTML is not much important

Java is nowhere in learning curve where HTML belongs.
So it's on your interest,. Wether to learn HTML or java, as Java is generally used for software/android development
