Canvas VS. SVG _ which is better (easier)?

Question

I want to learn Canvas or SVG, I feel like I would like SVG, and Canvas would make me feel like a pro (feel like I know programming),
But, SVG is nonsense (to me), those letter things d, L, m...
And Canvas -- is ... nothing to complain about (besides I don't know where to start).

Which one do you guys prefer (or suggest), any particular reason?

If you plan to expert in building icon, logo, chart and other artworks, learn svg.
If you like to build javascript games, learn canvas.
