Python is a good programming for beginners to start with. It gives the basic understanding in the programming self and can help you to easier to learn other programming languages. But if you learned Java first instead, it also gives basic understanding on programming self, but it can be less comfortable to learn as first programming language.

It depends on what you're gonna do with the language. For example if you want to make android apps, you should learn Java.
