Every programing language that I know has the capability of accessing databases. So the "most popular" would be based upon what type of project I'm working on, its platform, and which language would be the most efficient in the particular situation. There isn't an absolute. Think of programming languages as a tool on your tool belt that helps you express your logic and problem-solving capabilities. Is a chainsaw better than a hammer? It just depends upon your task and what/how you're trying to accomplish it. So if you need to cut down a tree, use your chainsaw. If you're going to build a house with the tree afterwards, use your hammer. The more tools that you have available to you, the more effective you become in all of the situations that you encounter. It's better to have tools that you never use than need a tool and not have it.
