Which programming languages are best needed for developing Operating Systems?

Curious to know the best languages to learn for OS Development for OSs like Microsoft, Ubuntu etc.

I think than for develop a serious OS, C/C++ and assembly are MANDATORY

C has been the principal language for writing operating systems and device drivers for the past 40 years, since the earliest days of Unix. More recently, C++ has been used for the higher-level OS components. (Objective-C is still C essentially.)

So, really, there are no other languages. It’s C/C++ all the way!

Someone in the future might try using Rust.

Rust is probably an option too in the future. It isn't very widely used yet but some people are already working on an open source OS written in Rust https://www.redox-os.org/
