Can I use </br> instead of <br/> ?

May that cause some problems using XHTML?

based on current w3c recommendations just <br> should be used

No, there is no </br>, incorrect syntax.

</br> has sense within xml context. It's interesting that some html browsers treat </br> as <br>, while other just ignore this.

HTML5 standard is <br>. However, Ract.js is <br />, closing tag is required for every tags in React.js
