I've tinkered with network/device-security for some years as a hobby. My advice is to exercise your skills in programming before jumping into that field, though. Doing so will increase your speeds at learning about its concepts once you do begin diving into it. I'm not familiar with Coursera, nor Edx, but if you still want to pursue the field before strengthening your knowledge in programming, my advice is to configure Kali Linux in VirtualBox (if you don't have it as your main OS), and look into applications that describe concepts used when navigating the OS, as well as note occasional (thorough) YouTube videos that describe (in-detail) what jobs/abilities/purposes each of the tools used are made to do, etc. Try to avoid the ones that zoom through "what to type into the terminal to 'hack your neighbors wifi'". Anyway, I stick with my previous advice: Exercise your programming skills before getting into it. Doing that will "secure" what you won't be known for in the future (being a script-kiddie). :P
