As I estimate the hacking thing, these kids are just curious. They babble something about "ethical" but all of you must understand that this is only a cheap justification what is a lie in most cases. In fact they will apply these techniques first at the devices of their siblings, then on the computers of mommy and daddy, and at some day they do the same at their school and boast in front of their classmates how kewl this is. This swamp has to be dried out, because they will never stop and latet they will do this at an office with other people. They MUST learn that this is not a kid's game but a criminal act as I wrote before. In the end it is a question of maturity. period!

Valuable threadstarter and supporters, could you please read this: I will block all SoloLearn-members who ask for "how to hack", regardless of the fact if you are into "normal" or "ethical" hacking. It is simply for the reason, that it is not possible to verify if you are really "ethical" or you tell us a fairy tale. This ban is irrevocable and for life! In my eyes it has a bad aftertaste if people who have just licked at several courses without completing them do ask questions about hacking. There is the simple rule that it is only allowed to hack, if you do this in your OWN, PRIVATE network, which is isolated, has NO connection to the internet AND personal rights of owners of material on the devices you want to hack are not vulnerated. And, to whom it may concerns, I will tell you something fundamental: HACKING, WITHOUT HAVING THE PERMISSION OF THE OWNER OF THE DEVICES YOU WANT TO HACK IS EQUAL TO DIGITAL BREACH OF DOMESTIC PEACE AND IS NOT A KID'S GAME BUT A CRIMINAL ACT AND CAN BE PROSECUTED BY THE INJURED PERSON OR BODY, THEIR LAWYER AND THE JURISTICAL BODY AND CAN RESULT IN HIGH PENALTIES AND/OR JAIL.

To Petp0, hacking isn’t bad if you hack for good (ethical hacking). As for the OP, I greatly recommend picking up every language you come across. But if you are wanting to focus on a specific aspect of what you want to hack you have some options. In general, the best language to learn is Python. If you want to hack web-clients, learn HTML, CSS (this one is optional), and JavaScript (this is the BIG one you need to know for web-client hacking) As for web-server hacking: SQL, PHP, C++ There is a lot more to hacking, but web-client and web-server hacking are the most basic and best for beginners. As for learning hacking, use these sites too to help you learn: www.cybrary.it/ https://www.root-me.org/?lang=en (Do the challenges on here. They are very good for learning and practicing). If you need any more resources or help as to hacking, feel free to let me know or message me via Discord (gamertag - technical#6002 ) Good luck and happy hacking! Also, why do you all downvote? Hacking is not a negative thing. It’s not even bad to learn it. It’s pretty sad to see how disrespected the topic of hacking and those who want to learn it are.

I am not sure if he/she/it knows what "ethical" means at all.

Do you want to buy a good or a bad rifle?

Yes, and ethical murderers, too, but the victim of a "normal" murderer is as dead as the victim of an "ethical" murderer, and both actors are not empowered by the society to judge about life and death. Equally this is for hackers. If there is a legal body which decides that a crime can only be prevented by mandating a hacker, than the hacker is an approved specialist who did prove his reliability before that he does only these things which are neccessary to solve the case. And this one will not sniff in other affairs which have nothing to do with the case.

@James: Good that you told us this. Then we do not have to fear a security issue. ;-)

There are so many ways to hack, you can't reduce it to Pentesting. There is so much more to it. Hardware hacking, social engineering, just general tinkering, none of that falls under your definition of hacking.

Private [GER] As I understood this guy wanted to learn how to become a hacker, and I suggested him to become a pentester (whitehat hacker) because it's a profession that is legal and can give someone feel that he's hacking✨ You're right when you say that this field doesn't include only pentesting, SE is the biggest part of hacking, we could even suggest him not to learn any language for hacking but 'the language of people' - how to hack a human's mind and personality.
