It's not really that bad if you like dollar signs.

PHP is not a bad language, it's just that it's popularity has decreased and now there are new languages which bring more to the community. if you are just starting I would recommend going with python. But if you really want to learn the basics of programming, go with C.

lol. true. using C in the backend would be strange and weird. I only recommended C for learning not for web development.

No, it's commonly used in today's website structure. (for example all, as far as I know, websites made with GoDaddy with WordPress used PHP) I'm no web designer so I don't even know if there is alternatives to it.

This is one of my favorite articles on the topic, and it is full of references to other articles that can help you to make a better opinion. In the same way you will see many articles on which JS is not a good language or that is poorly designed, but in the end that depends on the developer (and as mentioned in the article "sufficiently talented coders can write great applications in terrible languages") https://blog.codinghorror.com/php-sucks-but-it-doesnt-matter/

The choice of C in the Backend is very strange, tbh. Even so, if I remember correctly there are several frameworks that allow you to work with C in web development, it would only be necessary to know how much complexity a web application can have developed with one (template system, route management, work methodology, etc)
