Me and my friends finished Java. But somehow he have over 1000xp and I only have 300 even though I'm better than him.....

Depends on your performance throughout the course, you get less points if you take hints or fail to give the correct answer in your first try...

You can get more points by playing challenges or by unlocking preferred badges.
