Is the end in sight for all those weird programming languages?

We know that technology is advancing every day. Will there be a time when all those hard to grasp and difficult to type programs become history? Is the future bright for the common people to handle computer programming using normal english like languages? SoloLearn community please provide your verdict!

Calculus was discovered in mid 17th century. As much as the way of teaching math has evolved, it is still difficult to grasp and comprehend for some. The ability to read into a language construct does not guarantee its effective use. Even if programming languages would grow into natural languages one day, there will still be both good and bad programmers.

Monical... I say this with the utmost respect and because I believe you will know where I'm coming from... Is you crazy or something? 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️😉 Wix and the like can never satisfy the vast custom needs that go outside their common templates used for basic scenarios. These serve a need for the non programmer and they are impressive to that degree. But, CMS systems like Wix have their limitations which are too numerous to list here. Let's not feed the silliness of this notion with the idea that Wix is even in the realm of being able to bring an end to programming.

Jithu Joshy Jy Which languages are you referring to as hard to grasp?

Monical Are you referring to the ability to step through code in the browser debugger? If so... Sweeeet! I'm glad that helped. 🤓👌 For those curious, we had an online screen sharing session where I helped cover some essential developer concepts for an hour or so. It was a lot of fun connecting and doing some live coding.

Monical ... without ripping you to shreds, let me just say "keep learning". If you think site builders are the end of programming you've got A LOT to learn. Also, I laughed hard at " ...the cms from the future" ... you made me shoot a little coffee out my nose just now. I blame you for needing to make a second cup.

Usually, a more language like (high level) programming language is slow in execution than low level languages, but they are easier to learn. If you're going to be a professional programmer, you may have to learn languages from both high and low level.

it is already happening as we speak. Front-end web development has been made easier with platform such as wix and webflow... ‘the cms from the future’

Maybe saying programming languages will be replaced is a bit far fetched but newer ideas have definately made some aspects of programming a lot more simpler compared to how it was 10 years ago. And people will always find easier ways of doing things making it easier for the layman in a limited number of domains such as making websites, svgs, etc. The only limit is that with cms, you can only use what is available and knowing to code will empower you to customise and create things that dont exist. David Carroll thanx for the chrome tips by the way. Best thing I’ve learnt... EVER!

It has been properly addressed, but I'll just put these here since Wix and the likes were mentioned... https://www.sololearn.com/discuss/244753/?ref=app https://www.sololearn.com/discuss/1279045/?ref=app

I envision some language that would abridge the gap between Declarative programming languages and Procedural programming languages. For example, English is considered as a global language for natural language conversations and communication; Children who doesn't know how to read and write can understand this language fairly well nowadays. I hope in the future, such a programming language would emerge that would connet the computers and humans like never before. Even people with no knowledge of programming will be able to do whatever they want with the computers. I believe it's possible and it will happen soon...
