Java or C++

Question

I started by learning Ruby, and now I'm looking for a more popular language to learn. After a bit of research, I've come to the conclusion that these two would fit me best. The only question left is - which one? Or maybe, just sharpen my Ruby?

My personal choice is to go for C++ over Java. with C++ you can build your foundation for both C# and Java
