elif Statement Problem in macOSX.

Question

whenever i type any elif statement and hit enter , it shows Sytax Error : Invalid Syntax .
eg. i=1
if i==6:
print("a")
elif i==1:
print("Break")
this also gives syntax Error.
please help/

It is still giving the same error man ! run it in macOS . in python 3.6.3 shell .
