Understand the basics. They are the building blocks of your program.
I think of a program as a machine, complicated, but basically made out of simple components. Know how they work and you will know how to put them together.
Don't worry too much about memorizing the terminology. Just know they exist and what they do.
And Google and Stackoverflow exists, and knowing what to search for is half the battle...😁
But yes, practice is the key.
Even if you are not in front of the computer coding, you could still practice by thinking on how to abstract a problem into programmable parts.
That is really what programming is. Solving a problem by breaking it down into commands that can be done by a computer.
