What I should I be aware of?

I used to do computer programming for Air Defense operating systems in the Army. Coding is new to me in the sense that I wasn't formally taught. So what should I be aware of? Any advice for a beginner?

That's more of pep talk, bruh. I meant academic advice, like, "You should learn blah blah, because it's what businesses currently use.". But thank you.
