Create compiler for c++

Hi guys, what books and resources should I read to build a compiler for cpp language? What knowledge do I need to be able to understand gcc code, for example?

I dont think it's good idea to make c++ compiler, also anyways why you even need one, you can use dev cpp if you want simple compiler
