A new book I really like alot is Moksh Jawa "Decoding Computer Science A". It is written for high school students preparing for AP Java exam, I like Moksh's careful explanation of every line of code in programs so you completely understand. Its very reasonably priced, and also an e-book.

If you want to get the most out of this course use code playground at every opportunity. write code, save it. Comment your code as much as possible especially at the beginning and before each method. thats my advice:)
