by following you recieve updates on the activity of those you followed, such as posts in the Q&A, new codes submitted, challenges they completed recently (well the last one might be less interesting).

you can learn a lot from other users of this community, be it in comments or codes, there is always an opportunity to learn.

and in general, that is just part of this platform being a social app.

sure, it is missing some features such as private messaging, but don't forget it is still relatively new and still get new updates constantly, so who knows, that might happen sometime in the future.
