Which language to learn for quant work?

I have a solid basis in Matlab and some experience in R from my undergraduate degree in mathematics. I will soon be starting a MSc in Financial Mathematics with the intentions to go into quant work. I know this is a fairly ambiguous question, but I was wondering what my best bet was regarding learning an object oriented programming language.

Iā€™m not a finance expert, but Iā€™d say based on the languages you already know, Python. It has some great libraries for finance, graphs, and analytics. Itā€™s used for data science even more than MatLab and R

I think itā€™s all right, but it might be hard to focus on either. Python, in my opinion, is easier than C++, so it might be better to start with that and move on to C++.

Thank you Ariela, I'm fairly new to this all. Would it be wise to learn Python and C++ at the same time, or is this a rather unrealistic task?
