What languages are used by anti-virus industry?

Hi all, I am very much interested in anti-virus industry. Wanted to know what are all the languages used by companies like Kaspersky lab, Semantec, Quick heal to build an anti-virus software or similar software for network or industrial security purpose.

Most of them use C++, because it is a low level language can communicate with the core of the computer very well. Also big operating systems like Windows and Linux (maybe even Mac OS, if you can count that as an operating system) use C++ for a lot of their processes and you could communicate with the operating system very well if you use the same programming language it mostly uses.

@Neo you should know about the most recent developments in viruses, because you need to make your antivirus up to date so it will protect the user against every possible virus if you can. You could also learn about old viruses to better understand the new ones, but if you are working on an antivirus that has already been created and is pretty much up to date you don't need to know about how the old viruses work, because the antivirus probably has everything implemented already. You of course need to know how the antivirus programs themselves work too.

The anti virus industry is using all sorts of languages: C or C++ is needed for low level stuff and core libraries, but also other languages that are better for building the larger applications around the core libraries, user interfaces and web services, and automation systems: java, C#, web languages, python and much more. There is also a good knowledge of Operating Systems and networking technology.
