If you're asking if Java can do anything with graphics, yes it can. If you're asking about graphic design, then I'd focus more on graphic programs, such as Maya, PhotoShop, etc.. Really depends what you're trying to do. Read through all of the various Java libraries and such that involve graphics also. As for hacking, there is so much more to hacking than simply knowing a programming language. Many factors are involved, and depends upon your target as well, so it's one of those situations where you use whatever tool is best for a given situation. As for general programming/app development, it's a great language for all of that.

Java is a very easy, and powerful, programming language to learn. On top of that, it's the most popular language today, which means that it has a LOT of resources on it and support from others. If you're going into software development, it's probably one of the best first languages you can pick from. I'd recommend it. Anyways, in conclusion, you can't go wrong with picking the language you want to learn first. Think about what you want to do in the short/long term, and then pick something that's going to compliment what you're wanting to do. Otherwise, you're just wasting time. What are your plans for the future? I can give you more specific advice toward what you're wanting to do.

@Gabriel If you're getting into general programming and app development, then Java is one of the best languages you could start with and then branch out from there as needed. https://www.sololearn.com/Course/Java/ https://www.sololearn.com/Course/SQL/ https://kotlinlang.org/ https://developer.android.com/studio/index.html

Java is an easy language but take the dive & learn one that will EASILY encompass Java [ & OOP concepts MUCH better] such as C++, imo. I might be partial to it bc it was my first language but I have thanked myself hundreds of times for it being my first language bc it made learning Java EXTREMELY easy bc of how much more in depth I could code in c++ (using memory, machine code if necess). I could go on forever but c++ is the better/best choice. If you do decide on Java though, look into the semi brand new emergence of Kotlin too. Just make sure your language of choice is object oriented.
