What do i need to practice java on my computer?

Download an IDE so you can create real programs with it

I personally use Eclipse and NetBeans, but many people enjoy IntelliJ also. They're all free, so check each of them out and go with whichever one feels better to you. It's the editor you'll use to actually write your code and compile it.
