As you said and know, this is a "popular" question going on right now: https://www.sololearn.com/Discuss/894300/do-you-think-it-is-important-for-programming-to-be-part-of-the-school-s-curriculum-in-today-s ^That's the one that's actually trending and already has everyones answer. Since I'm here, in my opinion, my answer is no. I'm not a fan of making programming mainstream or something that everyone should know. Why? That diminishes the value of programmers, whereas right now we have higher value because most people can't program. At the moment, programmers make a LOT of money, but if everyone knows how to program, then it's no more useful than the other things that everyone knows. Value is gone.

Yea but children need to want to learn programming by themselves and not be forced to learn it.

The same way that children find interest in anything, considering that grade schools don't teach most professions. As well, that's not necessary for people to find interest in it, considering we've had programmers around for many many decades, and even when there was a lot less incentive. How did you discover it? Growing up my school didn't have classes for any of this type of stuff. Most programmers have a general interest in IT first, and through that interest they discover all of the various fields of it. Most people, even if they didn't learn it in school, are very much aware of programming, even if they don't know it or have interest in it. Equally so, it's 2017 and all of our new generations are going to immediately be exposed to the amazing technology we created for them, which means they'll be aware of programming early on, just like they'll be aware of most things earlier than previous generations. Realistically, people that are meant to be programmers find programming. It's kinda like a life test. :D
