Whats the difference between LAMP stack and MEAN stack?

MEAN comes from MongoDB / EXPRESS / AngularJs / Node.Js LAMP comes from Linux / Apache / MySQL / PHP So basically both are stacks of technologies used and the title describes which technologies are used in development. There is also a deviation called LEMP stack when (E)Nginx web server is used instead of Apache. The difference between them is difference in technologies and you should use whichever is more appropriate for the project.

so would you say MEAN stack is more appropriate for android application and LAMP stack for web based applications? when would i use MEAN over LAMP?

LAMP stack nd MEAN stack are used for the same things. one stack is easier to learn and understand as compared to the next. In the current times it is better to invest in learning both. For any others interested in the question above.
