How to learn only one language without distraction?

I am a newbie to learn programming language and I am learning Python right now but it's hard to learn or consist on only this language because some friends tell me to learn Java or php or in my college they teaching us c++. As a newbie , I don't know what to learn or how much is enough for a good programming skill.So can somebody tell me how to learn language and at its advance level without get distracted.?

It depends on what you want to do. If you just want to learn programming then Python is a good start for beginners.

each programming language has it's use so I think you have to decide what's your target is so you can put your plan and nothing is hard if someone can do or learn something then you can too.

who says its good to start programming with python? its completes wrong in my mind coz in Python everything is inside the code and u don't see them to understand the concept of programming as its a high level language. but in c c++ or (some of java )u see the code and understand what's going on by the `code` language and understand the way it works or flows

Actually most people who are beginners that i know of started learning Python just to get intersted in programming. You're right in the sense that Python doesn't show you everything of what a high level language is doing such as C++/Java.

Learn Java and then you can learn any programming language in future if it is required.
