Why do you want to use python, and not something more common for mainframe like rexx or java?

Hello I'm working on mainframe since 1998. I can tell you that you can install python3 on mainframe for free https://www.rocketsoftware.com/product-categories/mainframe/JUMP_LINK__&&__python__&&__JUMP_LINK-for-zos Best regards and happy new years 2020 Bruno

yes, you need some more advanced Python environment (Canopy seems good to me) and there is a standard library handling mainframe.
