It allows you to reproduce the format of your HTML in the same way you write it in your text editor, generally the browser removes spaces by default, using <pre> the browser will read your HTML as you wrote it. E.g https://code.sololearn.com/WnuhrmR599RW/?ref=app

pre stand for preformatted. it will produce same text included blank space as you write in text editor.
