mainly for me as a software engineer and web developer.. I deal with clients by the total working hours. but sometimes people want to set a number before starring.. in Syria a website costs 1500$ that's all I know.

What you are offering is not a product as much as it is a service. A product would be considered a premade application that you sell. Designing and developing a website is considered a service. In business there are several ways to price a service but the two most common ways are: - Time Spent - Flat rate An example of time spent pricing would be like $40 per hour. Then you create an invoice saying each task you did and how long. ex(writing code : 3.5 hours : $140). Flat rate would be just a flat rate when the service is started or terminated. ex( $500 up front : $1000 upon completion : total = $1500) I would suggest flat rate at first. then once you get fast at providing the service you can do the timed rate. you don't want to charge someone for a bunch of time you spent trying to learn how to do something lol. I mean you can and just chalk it up as time spent debugging but that's not really ethical. Great question! Solomon

That's just a business model that's common in the US though. Business changes based upon region and culture.

find out the local cost that others are charging for the same service, then try to base your price off that. so if the average web developer in your area charges $1500 for a website. Then charge around $1500 for that same product.

yeah I have seen that before with alot of companies. If market prices are kept private you could call different businesses that might use your services and ask them what they pay for their current service. then offer them a lower price, or a better price.
