There are plenty of online colleges/universities that you can get "legit fancy papers" that pretend to represent your ability.

What type of language are you trying to get certified in? I know with something like C#, MS has official certifications for it. However, for web dev, I'm not personally aware of any, and not really sure you would even need something like that for web dev.

The most "reputable" thing you can do it learn, practice, and master what you're doing. You represent yourself through you abilities, not through pieces of paper. If you're good at what you can, you can easily show people how good you are.

^More than likely, it'll be a few hundred dollars. Most exams are a couple hundred each, and then the cert itself.
