Nope, the opacity is a range of 0-1, any number beyond 1 will just be 100% opacity

No, you cannot use decimals in alpha, other then 0 and 1. You should use alpha value from 0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3 until 1. The minimum value 0 is to set fully transparent mode, the maximum value 1 is to set fully opaque color.
