@John Drennan Regarding that C++ is better to be learned as first language - imo, it's true. It not only is a base of most languages' syntax, also it gives you deep understanding of how things work. So it's wise to start with C++ if you want to go deep in learning CS. It's only my opinion tho.

There's no such thing as 'better', regarding the programming languages. Each language was designed to fulfill a specific task and is better at it. So it's ok to talk about which language is best at a specific task, or which language is better for learning to achieve specific goal, but no language can be better at everything. For example, at Android app development, Java is better; C++ totally sucks at web development ;), and so on.

@Manual I didn't say it can't be used for web development ;) Still a web developer, who only knows C++, wouldn't be very competitive in the industry.

Better focus at one at a time.

Yes you can learn both. That's my plan as well, I believe that a base knowledge of c++ will make other languages easier to learn than the other way around(correct me if I'm wrong) so I'm learning it first. I've only dabbled in java years ago. C++ is the first one I'm putting serious time into mastering, which I'm not even close to doing yet but making great progress. You can learn as many as you like but take them one at a time for now and master one before you start another.
