X-attribute animates svg-element from left to right and FROM RIGHT TO LEFT. Y-attribute animates svg-element from up to down and FROM DOWN TO UP.

x attribute position specific elements on the x-axis, y attribute on the y-axis ^^ (not for all svg element shapes: for example, <circle> shape element rater use 'cx' and 'cy' to define its position ;P) If used at 'animationName' attribute of an <animation> svg element, you can animate the specified property, so move the element along the specifoied axis coordinate (lesser values come to left or up, greater to right or bottom...).
