Java is used for tons of things, most likely processing programs and games, as mentioned before by @David Stark

Java is an object oriented programming language, which is different from, for example, C or C++. It is basically oriented differently. When you pick a language, you should know what you want to do, and see which language will correspond to doing that. For example, HTML can be used to make websites, while Java is used to make games and other things.

I don't like programming java on sololearn. The teaching is good, but I can't program full scale programs. :(
