Being a beginner in Java, you should know how to compile your code on the command line. Once you're done with this, use BlueJ IDE. It's made for beginners and has simpler functionality. Eclipse/IntelliJ IDEA/NetBeans are not for beginners to code. Once you know the basics very well, you can go for Eclipse or NetBeans. With respect to the features and functionality, IntelliJ IDEA is considered as the best IDE for Java programming.
