Will there ever be a better option than "Google"?

Today most programmers focus on getting a job at Google instead of trying out new and better replacement to "Google", this may be because they think that the company will never get topped no matter how hard anyone tried to do so. ...but how about you, do you think you can prove them wrong?

I believe also that another certain corporation can top Google...; it might even be SoloLearn...!!!!!!!!! The case of Tesla is a good expectation, same as Facebook... Yet, in the domain of the Web, after my research degree in Information Systems (Virtual Environments specialty), I kind of believe that the next "big thing" is Virtual Reality! Therefore, the corporation that would implement this will hold the future... ^-^

got hit pretty hard though. could be worse for google if one day they are seen to have a monopoly and are just buying out potentional competition. but so many what ifs..

Yahoo was once the best search engine but later got topped by Google, but there's something about Google and it's that they always acquire anything which might compete with them in the future. ...remember, they bought Android from Andy Rubin[$500M].

Of course something will come one day, but I think that day is going to be very far away because Google is just too good at what it does. I remember using the search engine when it was still very obscure back in 1996. It was one of the very few ad-free powerful search engines in existence. The lack of ads was what was innovative about it. Now all or most search engines have no ads. Google is going to be very hard to top, much like Microsoft because it's also a well diversified company that offers many kinds of high quality services/products.Also now that Android's market share is so high now and expected to grow more, with billions of devices being used around the world, we can expect Google's influence to increase much more.

I think they will recover because it is their first antitrust case....Apple went through it and so many other big companies.

the same was true of AT&T, GE, HP, IBM, Sun, Microsoft, and now the mantle is on Google. To me it appears that the young and smart gather at a place preferably away from their previous generation. But as they grow old, they tend to take a backseat and let the new generation build new and shiny things like Google. Now, Google, when it's top level leadership retires and the next generation takes over the mantle of Alphabet, will likely stop attracting young new talent. This can lead to the next big new shiny business. Going by history, it looks more likely than not that someone unheard of will be taking the spot than say, Tesla or anyone that is around today. Having said that, it is good to start using alternative search engines and moving away from Google. You can look into the seeks search engine or yacy search engine.

Like you said, I don't think anyone can top Google, especially when it comes to search engines. The fact is, search engines are simply hard to make, but Google already has one that can find exactly what you searched for. Also, a lot of people already use it, so you need to make a better, faster search engine that is easier to use and that alone doesn't guarantee people will use it. When it comes to android, it's pretty much impossible to be competition: you need to make an OS, the OS can't be reinstalled on a phone, so people would need to also buy your phone. Not to mention, Google also is making some self driving car technology that hardly anyone can compete with.
