Aspire to create something... something that you really really want to create such as a website, a game, or a mobile app etc. Then choose the appropriate programming language(s) for the task. Then actually start coding! The very fact you are building something you really want to create will really help you grind through the initial learning, and also through the problems you encounter throughout. Personally speaking, I'd also try to create something very useful and functional and/or something very visual so you can always see what you have made and be pleased with it. If you do a little bit at a time and test and see the results, it will also enforce the fact that you are making progress. It should also help reduce the amount of time spent fixing bugs, because for example, if you only write 3 lines of code and something starts going wrong, you know the issue can only be something to do with those 3 lines of code - that's easy / 300 lines of code - not so much. If you can build something with someone else / build something similar to someone else, you can also encourage each other and help each other. The only thing stopping you getting good at programming is you!
