when you write H_O i.e H2O IN THIS 2 is subscript and in formula of ( a + b) ² , 2 is superscript

If you are asking what tags to use. <sup> is for superscript and <sub> is for subscript. If you are wondering what they purpose of them is. Superscript is used for exponents. Think 2 squared or 4^15th. I usually see subscript for molecular formulas or maybe numbering similar variables in an equation. Your average website probably won't use either of them very often.
