Being a mechanical engineer, I've started learning Java, C++ and Python for fun. How useful is it to learn these languages?

I already know that CAD, FEA and MATLAB are useful to learn as a Mechanical Engineer. However, I want to know whether the other languages I'm learning would help me out as an Engineer in general.

highly useful. if you can write up a prototype of what you want in any of these languages, it will save you tonnes of time and money in getting your specifications out to software engineers who will properly formalize your prototype. seriously, they are not just highly useful, but will be invaluable.
