Why >>> prompt symbol is used in python?

Hello I am a beginner learning python, so please correct me if i am wrong anywhere. If we do not the prompt symbol in the code playground then also it runs the program, instead when we write the prompt symbol in the code playground. It shows a syntax error.

Because it is a custom to show prompt symbol on command prompt or terminal to indicate that you can enter new command and your old command execution is completed. Code playground is just a remote console and not a command prompt or terminal so it does not use >>> prompt
