Certifications?

So a while ago I posted a question about how to become a front end or full stack web developer and I was given a great answer on the languages and some of the frameworks needed. My question now is, when I search for some job requests I also see a lot of employers requesting certifications for things like windows, CompTIA, and other stuff. Do I need these certifications if I really want to be a programmer/developer and how do I get them? P.S. If you can also just throw in some frameworks and skills you think are necessary for any programmer right now, i'd be real grateful. Any kind of advice would be awesome...

@James Yikes man, those sound like some questions that would make me sweat on the spot. Hopefully, I get to understanding that one day.
