Memorizing code and getting Motivated?

I always have problems remembering things, code included. I also find it hard to stay motivated. I might be extremely motivated to learn something for a certain reason, but later it just seems like its not worth it anymore, so i just give up. I am currently (or rather was) trying to learn c++, but without examples of how to actually use those syntaxes in video games, i get confused alot, further lowering my motivation. I would appreciate some help with memorizing code and/or staying motivated. Thanks.

Been there Marty! I know how you feel. I gave up many many times in the past due to very similar reasons. Even today I really couldnt be bothered but everytime I felt like that I just said to myself "No, just sit your ass back down and do it!" There are quite a few good game tutorials for c++ online. Even video ones on youtube. Start with simple ones so you will have a chance to finish them with a full understanding of how they work. Once you start getting a feeling of accomplishment it gets easier to push through the "oo but I don't want to" moments. Good Luck!

fyi Memorizing comes with time and repetition. I still have to refer to references for alot of things. No shame in that

@Marty, I think your best option would be to buy a book on the matters. You could get them at your library too if you don't want to invest to much on it. But there are very good books out there that come with simple sample codes that you can easily modify for your purpose and it contains also a lot of ideas too. Never give up, but I guess you are someone that needs something new and challenging once in a while. Perhaps a combination of coding and creating could be closer to your attention and needs. How about getting into Arduino and or Raspberry PI that gives you options to connect to the real world...
