Why learn to program?

What are your personal reasons to become a programmer? Business or pleasure or something else? I personally have always found programming to be fascinating. I started at a very young age doing Turbo Pascal and later C. Now after a long break of more than 10 years, I started learning C# for creating a simple RPG just for fun. i couldn't be happier learning a new awesome language and creating something unique. What's your story?

* My obscurate past * Some years ago, i wanted to hack Facebook's account, i heard that to hack someone i would have to learn Python so... i did not know anything about programming and i learned basics of Python. After this, i completely forgot my evil intention and i loved the logic behind Python, i studied languages like C++ (templates, garbage collector and other stuff like this), C# (just the basics, i don't like it, sorry) and in this last months, i learned web languages. Now, i'm in love with Javascript and i want to learn more about it, but in the next future i'd like to master Python and C++ as well, because they learned me many things that i can't find in Javascript only. I want to thank myself some years ago and my stupid immaturity, because now i know what i want to do in my life. :) * The End *

Never had any kind of background or exposure to programming till 4 years after College as a school teacher when my former student returned during his holiday to give extra classes to our students. He had been admitted to University for a Bachelor's in Information Technology and Computing and had studied some programming languages. He had a Database management system he was working on for his final project that I picked interest in. He showed me how things worked and that was enough for me to rethink about my future profession. Fast Forward, I enrolled at University for a Bachelor's degree course in Information Technology and started my journey in this amazing world of coding. I have tried to learn by myself other languages not taught in my course and have tried to share the knowledge via a Multi-University platform I created on WhatsApp. I called it #CodeZone https://chat.whatsapp.com/GeB2hj2MRpxGNUOKx6fiXk. The teacher in me dreams of introducing programming to children at tender ages in my Country Uganda in future.

I am a real beginner and I also started cause I think it is fascinating! You can do so much with it - when I just think about what it is used for. I feel like we couldn't live without it anymore. Its a good skill for the future. I have a lot of fun learning it and doing small games is definatly one of my goals! I also want to study IT and do it professionally.

My story begun from childhood. I always loved to solve some logical tasks, like Japanisse crosswords,puzzles,twenty-game e.t.c,while others was playing with dolls or cars, never found it fun :( And then I met with computer firts time in age, maybe like 8 years and reaaaly loved it and here my wish to create games was born,I guess everyone here wanted to do this :D When I finished school I thought about some IT education and then started the long story of my college and university, but yeah,Im living in Russia and it was just a piece of poop and I just wasted 8 years on thing I can learn for a week. So...after it I'm here, learning new stuff and trying to find myself. Edit: I dont know if I named games right,it may differ in different countries...anyway,all of them was just logical things :)
